Frequently Asked Questions
Are Greenworks batteries interchangeable?
Our batteries are interchangeable with tools that are of the same voltage platform only. The difference between batteries of the same voltage is the ampere-hour (Ah) rating. The higher the ampere-hour (Ah) rating on the battery, the more run time it has to offer.
Can you use higher voltage batteries in lower voltage platform tools?
No. You cannot use higher voltage Greenworks batteries in lower voltage platform tools, as they are not compatible. Similarly, you cannot use lower voltage batteries in higher voltage platforms. Greenworks batteries are only interchangeable with tools that use the same voltage platform. For instance, you can use a battery from one Greenworks 40V tool to power another Greenworks 40V tool. However, you can’t use an 80V or 24V battery in a 40V tool.
Do all Greenworks batteries use the same charger?
Yes. Each Greenworks product line has designated charger models that can charge all batteries in that voltage platform, no matter the Ah rating.
How do I check the charge on my battery?
To check how much battery life you have left, press the battery capacity indicator (BCI) button located at the end of the battery. The lights will illuminate according to the battery capacity level. Please note that this switch requires a firm, direct push using the tip of your finger. If the button is not being fully engaged, the lights will not activate. Please also be advised that the lights only stay on for a few seconds and will automatically turn off. Another reason the lights will not power on is if the battery is completely depleted of power and needs to be charged.
How long does it take to charge my Greenworks battery?
You can receive a full charge on most Greenworks batteries within just 75 minutes. Depending on your battery’s Ah rating, our Fast Charging System can charge Greenworks’ batteries to 100% capacity in as little as 30 minutes.
